“ If I'm ever craving sushi, Arashi-Yama has always been my go-to. The decor makes for a lovely date night, and their prices are some of the most reasonable in town for the quality of fish you're getting. Every time I come here, I'm always met with some of the greatest service. This time around - my boyfriend and I got the Lover's Boat along with two orders of Hokkaido scallops and amaebi (sweet shrimp) sashimi. The Lover's Boat was a great deal for the amount of food you were getting and it all tasted fresh. However, the star of the night was certainly the sashimi. The scallops and shrimp were both sweet and not at all fishy. The fried prawn heads was a nice, crunchy end to our meal. If you're new to sushi and want to try something other than tuna or salmon, I strongly encourage you to order a few pieces of Hokkaido scallops or amaebi off the specials list! Overall, this place is definitely a must-try in Gainesville! ”

“ Passing through Florida on vacation, so stopped in Gainesville to try their sushi. My cousin lives there and recommended this (new-ish) place. We enjoyed our first (but certainly not our last) visit! I was too hungry to snap a pic and only remembered as I was happily digesting. I can't remember what my cousin ordered exactly, but it looked good and he said it was good. We each got two specialty rolls and two hand/regular spicy tuna rolls. There was nothing left. Kenny, our waiter, was impressed. He was excellent, by the way. He said his dad had been a sushi chef, so Kenny had grown up eating delicious sushi. He recommended some good rolls. He also confirmed my suspicions that cream cheese in sushi is an abomination. I ordered the Out Of Control Roll, which Kenny said was the most popular roll they had. Tuna, salmon, yellowtail, wrapped in soy paper with flakes, scallions, tobiko, eel sauce and kimchee on top. It was delicious! I also ordered the Hard Rock Roll, which was even better! It featured Bang Bang shrimp on top, and they were fabulous (and a little spicy...reminded me of George and Kramer's KUNG PAO!!). Underneath was spicy tuna and avocado wrapped in soy paper with mango salsa. Needless to say, we left full and content. Wish we had this place (and Kenny!) in Charleston! I will be driving the six hours back someday soon just to eat there again! Oh and ambiance was great. ”

“ My mom and I ordered take out on Saturday as we were spending our evening in with a Netflix and sushi night. I have been to Arashi Yama on a date and was very impressed with the ambience and food. For our take out order, I glanced over the menu and saw the Sweetheart Roll and the pictures on Yelp and immediately wanted it. I loved that the tuna on the outside gave it that heart shaped look. The roll came with 8 pieces that were pretty hefty in their size and filling. I enjoyed how fresh everything tasted. The inside of the roll which was filled with tuna, salmon, avocado, and mango was a perfect pairing. The mango was ripe and gave the roll some sweetness in contrast to the buttery pieces of fish. Overall, sushi is one of the ultimate night in meals and this was no different. Arashi Yama has now one of my favorite rolls in Gainesville - I look forward to stopping in again for a lunch or dinner service. ”

“ My go to rolls-- the Out of Control and the Sex on the Moon! Both rolls complemented each other well; first, the Out of Control wrapped with soy paper & the Sex on the Moon with shrimp tempura! Additionally, the sauces on each roll (sweet chilli-like taste) enhanced the overall flavor and freshness of the seafood! Went during Happy Hour (4:30PM-6:30PM) so the Sex on the Moon was discounted. The restaurant was very busy but our server was very attentive & responsive to us! Would definitely recommend; a must try in Gainesville for sure ”
